National Association Establishes Local Presence
Dr. Jonathan F. Camp heads Southern Nevada Scoliosis Association Chapter
(LAS VEGAS)— The Scoliosis Association, Inc., an international information and support network, has not had representation in Southern Nevada—until now.
Jonathan F. Camp, MD, a pediatric spine surgeon at Children’s Bone and Spine Surgery, recently announced he is establishing and heading the Scoliosis Association’s Las Vegas, Nevada chapter. Until now, the closest chapter with the organization has been in the Greater Los Angeles area.
“It is hard to believe that in a town as large as Las Vegas, that there is not a chapter of the Scoliosis Association here,” said Camp. “It is my goal with the association to establish a support group for parents and children to learn more about the condition and treatments available. There is a need for a group like this in Las Vegas and I hope that residents take advantage of everything it will have to offer.”
Earlier this year, Camp announced the start of a scoliosis support group. With the addition of the chapter of the national organization, he is one step closer to achieving his goal.
“It is my plan to work with the Scoliosis Association and bring together a support group that meets as a part of the local chapter,” he said.
The local chapter’s first meeting is scheduled for the middle of September.
The Scoliosis Association, Inc. was founded in 1974 and is a non-profit, volunteer-driven, non-medical organization.
